About John
I am a 32 year old dad of four children. My two stepsons are ages eleven and eight. My daughters are a rambunctious 3 and 1 1/2. I am a stay at home dad, while my wonderful wife works as a nurse in a local hospital. Staying at home with the children is a challenging but highly rewarding position, and it allows our children to be raised by their parents and not a babysitter.
I hold two degrees, one in Humanities and another in Computer Information Systems. Prior to becoming a dad, I volunteered many hours with my church, mentoring to young adults and teens, and working technical and coordinating activities for Student Ministries.
I enjoy many different forms of entertainment. My entire life I’ve had a love for music in all it’s forms, for listening and playing. My favorite genre can be summed up simply: If it rocks, I like it. That said though, I often enjoy Classical, Contemporary Christian, a little Hip Hop and Country. I play guitar, plugged and unplugged. As a student I was also a member of the orchestra and band, playing the violin and saxophone respectively.
Movies and television are another love of mine. I favor sci-fi and fantasy, and as most guys a good shoot ‘em up explosion filled action movie. I tend to be rather selective in what I enjoy in a comedy, often finding things hilarious that many do not. For me, that does not include idiotic or gross humor. My television tastes are very similar, and I also frequent the Discovery and History channels.
Much to my wifes dismay, I am also a gamer. Not your hardcore WOW breed of gamer, but a fill my spare time with a good RPG or a Guitar Hero shredfest kinda gamer. I’ve always found enjoyment in video games, from my first Nintendo back in the 80′s to our current Wii and PC. On a related note, I love computing. Troubleshooting, tweaking, optimizing and running my system, as well as this site now, are an important component to my day.
I enjoy so many different things, I couldn’t list them all. And I think that I have many interesting experiences and views with life. It is my sincere hope that I can be a valuable resource, or a good source of entertainment to anyone who reads my posts.
I thank you all for taking this adventure with me. Now, as I often tell my kids, let’s sit back and enjoy the ride!
