Balloon Boy a Hoax. No Kidding!

Balloon Boy a Hoax

The infamous Balloon Boy balloon came down this past October 15th, and after a few more hours of rivoting suspense…”Where is he then?”, “Did he fall out?”, we discover he was safe and napping in a box in the attic. You can’t script TV like that! And you certainly couldn’t ask for greater media exposure…hmm. I’m sure we all thought at that moment, especially us parents, man what an ordeal for that poor family. If you are like me at all, you probably also wondered what kind of lame parents have carelessly left a way for a 6yr. old to get into the attic. But I digress…

Of course the skeptics were shouting “Hoax!” at this point already, but no evidence to make that case was stronger than little Balloon Boy saying on TV that it was for a show. Talk about alarm bells going off! Anyone who saw it was also obviously concerned for the boy, because he looked suspicous and scared. All the talking heads started speculating, and authorities started investigating, and now guess what? The truth came out.

Mama Balloon Boy admitted in an affidavit to authorities that it was all a staged hoax, done in the hopes of making their family more marketable for TV. Interestingly enough, Papa Balloon Boy still denies it! The parents both have their own lawyers too. This is freakin’ nuts! Looks like they are keeping Balloon Boy himself out of the debate, which is good. Poor kid.

As a Dad I think this whole thing is awful. That poor little boy doesn’t deserve to be subjected to that. What kind of whacked out parents would do that to their kids, and whole family, anyway? I guess Papa Balloon Boy is a fame seeker, pitching scripts and shows, starring on Wife Swap, and now this. I don’t know Mama Balloon Boys deal, but to go along with this is appalling. Personally, I question their character for that Wife Swap show, which is the worst kind of reality TV smut and stupidity if you ask me. But to do what they did to that poor kid, as a parent it saddens me. I can only pray they didn’t make him even more miserable behind the scenes, talking him into lying about it if asked, or by even more despicable means.

I pretty much just wanted to vent on this. I can’t believe the kind of people out there in our world today, and what kind of parents would do such a thing to their children. This family is probably headed for disaster now. That’s too bad.

Incidentally, there is great humor to be found in this too. Have you seen this years hottest Halloween costume? The Balloon Boy Costune!
